I'm not a pencil skirt-wearing person. As skirts go they're definitely in the "grown-up" category, and my wardrobe is many things, but grown-up it ain't. Plus the last couple of times I've worn pencil skirts they've done one of these three following things:
1. Made it difficult to walk thanks to their tight cut around the knees. Which is why I guess Marilyn Monroe had that great booty shake, but on me it just feels constrictive. I want to be able to run for the bus, you know? And no one ever caught the 390 with a quick shimmy.
2. High heels. I feel like they're required wearing and I sometimes (often) require not to wear them.
3. For some reason pencil skirts twist on me. As in, half way through the day I'll look down and realise the skirt has turned itself so the seam is in the middle of my waist instead of on the side. Sometimes the damn thing does it so much the skirt is just back to front. Nope.
But then I found this skirt! And it's totally wearable! It has a slit and the front and back so you can run, high kick, pretty much Katniss Evergreen all over the bloody place in it with no problems. Also it doesn't twist, it stays in one place thanks to that belt. Mercy. And I also co-incidentally got these Free People clogs on sale so it was like all the pieces of my pencil-skirt life were falling right into place. I still feel a little bit workin' 9 to 5 in it, but in a Sigourney Weaver in Working Girl way, not in a Pam Beasley season 1 way.
