Last week I went to the River Island press day for their AW collection, which was great, although it has made me long for winter and the excuse to wear a CAPE which is weird. I am writing CAPE in caps because I never, ever, thought I'd be someone who coveted one. The accessories and boots were a home run - fluffy pastel bags reminiscent of Regina George and wishes of "maybe this year I'll be prom queen", crocodile and snake print bags with chunky gold chains, sparkly beanies and white...everything. Snow is a big influence for RI's Winter looks, and I love the idea of wearing pale colours when it's cold. It's so easy to just do black, but having a big pink coat, bare legs and thick socks? Yes. Thumbs.
There were biscuits (see below) decorated to look like key pieces from the range. I picked a blue clutch bag, mainly because it was the best way to eat the most cookie. Priorities, guys. I also made a pom pom with a face and a bow in her fluff who I called Esmerelda. She tells me what to do now. She's terrifying.
My absolute favourite pieces, which I loved so much I'm going to be constantly refreshing the RI website till I can get my hands on them, were this CAPE below (very Sabrina when she gets stuck in the 60's), and these platform beige Timberland-esque ankle boots, also below. I am dreaming of these boots. I want them on my feet right now.
